Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Cyclist

A motorcycle accident involving a pickup truck, Saturday, claimed the life of the cyclist, leaving him dead on the Escondido Freeway, authorities said.

The motorcycle crash occurred at 1:37 p.m. on the northbound lanes of the Freeway in the center lane, south of Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard. The accident blocked two lanes of traffic, according to California Highway Patrol.

A medical examiner was requested to the scene of the accident and firefighters were cancelled, a San Diego fire dispatcher said. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
