Nearly three tons of ready-to-eat turkey products have been recalled in six states by a Toulumne County Farm. The recall occurred, Thursday, after a routine federal test showed a contamination with Listeria (a common source of food poisoning).

Diestel Family Turkey Ranch agreed to recall the packaged turkey products that have been distributed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Texas and Washington. The turkey was packaged, on April 20, and has expiration dates of May 23 and/or May 28.

Consumers should discard the turkey meat immediately or take it back to their point of purchase to avoid ingesting the contaminated turkey. Listeria can cause violent stomach pains, vomiting and diarrhea. Older, younger or those with weakened immune systems, are at risk of developing listeriosis, a disease that can be fatal.

Diestel Turkey Ranch recalled 6 and 7lb plastic-wrapped packages of:

Herbed Oven Roasted Turkey Breast

Chipotle Peppered Turkey Breast

Naturally Smoked Boneless Turkey Breast

Naturally Smoked Uncured Turkey Breast with Pastrami Seasonings
