Toshiba rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that contain Sony cells, in Toshiba notebook computers, are being recalled because they can overheat, posing a fire hazard. The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recalled batteries were sold with or separately to be used with the following Toshiba notebook computer models: Satellite A100, Satellite A105 and Tecra A7. The batter model is located on the battery.

Consumers should contact Toshiba for a free replacement battery. The notebook computers can be used safely by turning the system off, removing the battery and using the AC adapter and power cord to power the system until a replacement battery arrives. Replacement batteries should be obtained from Toshiba or an authorized reseller.

Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact Toshiba at (800) 457-7777 anytime or visit the firm's Web site at www.bxinfo.toshiba.com
