T.W. Enterprises has recalled dog chews that may be contaminated with salmonella. Samples tested by the FDA indicate possible contamination.

People that handle the dog treats can become infected, especially if they don't thoroughly wash their hands after contact with the chews or the surfaces that have been exposed to them.

Healthy people that have been infected with salmonella should be monitored for the some or all of the following symptoms: diarrhea and/or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, fever, vomiting and nausea. In rare cases salmonella can result in more serious conditions such as: arterial infections, muscle pain, urinary tract infections and more.

Pets with salmonella poisoning are commonly lethargic and have diarrhea along with fever and vomiting. However, some pets only show signs of abdominal pain, fever and loss of appetite.
