Global Recall of Civic Hybrid Sedans

45,335 Civic Hybrid Sedans world wide are being recalled by Honda Motor Co. to repair an electrical auto defect that can stop the car engine, reports Wall Street Journal online.

Honda is planning a recall of 7,219 vehicles in Japan and 38,116 others that were sold overseas with many of them being sold in the U.S.

In documents filed with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Honda said, they learned from overseas reports of the defective voltage converter which can cause a short circuit that would stop the engine and prevent it from restarting.

Honda has not received any reports of accidents related to the defect, documents said. The vehicles being recalled were made from September 2005 to September 2006.
