A Volvo involved in a car accident crashed into a power pole near Bent Tree Lane and Lower Lake Drive potentially leaving over one hundred people without electricity.

The crash that occurred at 4pm, cracked the power pole in half, dumpling live wires onto the car while knocking out the power to approximately 700 Southern California Edison customers, confirms a Edison spokesman.

As of 9:30pm approximately 175 people still remain without power. Two Edison crews are working to upright the pole and restore power to the remaining homes as quickly as possible.

Details of the crash are still uncertain. The California Highway Patrol, whom handles traffic accidents in unincorporated Orange County, is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
