Driver overcorrection dooms SUV to rolling over.

A Toyota 4-Runner overturned in a single vehicle SUV accident causing the death of driver and injuries to three others late Monday night in an area just north of the Dallas Fort Worth airport. Of the three injured passengers, two were taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and the other was treated and released at the scene. This is according to a story on Star-Telegram.com.

"The Toyota rolled several times, leaving (the driver) with fatal injuries and the passengers with non-life threatening injuries," Sgt. Bob Murphy, Grapevine police spokesman said in a news release. "The accident is still under investigation," he added. "Alcohol may have been a factor."

The deceased was driving and for an unknown reason turned the vehicle one way, then overcorrected and struck the left shoulder of the roadway, according to the report.

Single vehicle rollover accidents in this model Toyota are all to common. The typical scenario is a driver swerves to avoid something in the roadway or due to a momentary loss of concentration and then overcorrects in attempting to bring the vehicle back in line with the roadway. Once the driver overcorrects with one of these unstable, high center of gravity SUVs, it is doomed to rolling over. It is the nature of the beast.
