Seven people lost their lives on Sunday, in five car accidents from Los Angeles to Orange County to Riverside County.

The first accident happened at 1am when a man, driving eastbound on Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles, was hit by an oncoming car as he made a left turn in its path, Los Angeles Police said. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released pending family notification.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated for head and foot injuries and she was arrested for drunken driving. Neither of the drivers had their seatbelts on at the time of the accident.

Just three hours later, a 30-year-old man was killed after being hit by several cars on the 110 Freeway. The man, whose name also hasn't been released, was involved in a crash with another vehicle in the northbound lane of the Freeway, said California Highway Patrol. He had exited his car and was walking along the fast lane when he was struck by another car and thrown onto the freeway where many cars hit him.

Around noon on Sunday, CHP officers closed down the northbound 405 Freeway, after a man hit an embankment and was killed. No one else was hurt in the crash.

In Orange County, a 23-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his sports coupe and crashed into a utility pole. The accident happened at 3:50am. Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.

In Riverside County, a head-on collision involving two cars killed three people and four more, including two children in critical condition, county fire officials said. The crash occurred at 2:24pm.
